LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST
Existing law requires every able-bodied inmate to work as many hours of labor as shall be prescribed by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Existing law provides that, upon release, an inmate shall be paid any sum they are due from such labor.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision.
The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
SECTION 1.
Section 2713 of the Penal Code is amended to read:
2713.
Whenever an inmate is paid for his their labor, performed under the supervision of the Department of Corrections department or any other public agency, and is discharged, all sums they are due him shall be paid upon release. If an inmate is released on parole all sums
they are due him shall be paid to the inmate as prescribed by the director. secretary.
